The Language of Haitian Vodou
Learn the Language. Honor the Culture. Deepen Your Understanding.
Language is at the heart of Haitian Vodou. It carries our songs, prayers, traditions, and the wisdom passed from one generation to the next. Yet many practitioners and students attend ceremonies without fully understanding the Haitian Kreyòl spoken throughout the service.
KREYÒL PALE, KREYÒL KONPRANN was created to bridge that gap.
This four-week live online course is designed specifically for practitioners and students of Haitian Vodou who want to better understand the language used in ceremonies, the lakou, and everyday interactions within the Haitian Vodou community.
Unlike traditional Haitian Creole classes, this course focuses on the vocabulary, expressions, etiquette, and cultural context unique to Haitian Vodou. You'll learn not only what words mean, but also why they matter, when they are used, and how language reflects the values of service, respect, lineage, and community.
Whether you are a Houngan, Mambo, Hounsi, serviteur, or a sincere student of the tradition, this course will help you participate with greater confidence, understanding, and respect.
